Surf Lessons

We live on a small island off the coast that gets a lot of swell and sometimes too much swell for the whole week straight of surf lessons! Trust us, this frustrates us as well but the number one priority is teaching in safe, reasonable conditions so everyone has a good time and wants to go surfing again! Navigating the waves!

We teach you the fundamentals of getting out through the waves, how to hold the board and paddle through waves to get back out there!

The timed push.

A correctly timed push is crucial for surf lessons. It not just about pushing the student whenever the wave is behind them. When the instructor pushes and how hard they push allows the student to be caught by the wave.

The pop & ride!

The pop up is one of the most difficult parts of surfing, second to reading and catching the wave. The pop up needs to be a quick, balanced motion to get you on your feet and keep the board evenly weighted to keep cruising!

First surfing experience=SUCCESS!! I loved this place and the people there. I worked with Kayla--a total sweetheart that was super friendly and eager to help. Reider--hooked me up with some rather last-minute lessons and timed out decent waves. Alex--provided excellent instruction, was very knowledgeable, honest, and funny as hell! Seriously felt like I coulda just hung out with these people all day, but I was too busy trying (TRYING) to catch some waves with my rental all week!! HIGHLY recommend this shop!

Great experience!!! Took surfing lesson over Memorial Weekend with Jay who was an excellent teacher- very enthusiastic and encouraging/helpful without being at all bored or condescending despite me being a complete beginner. His instructions were consistently super clear, starting me out on land with basic how-to's, went into the surf with me (despite the chilly water) and provided ongoing pointers but did not over teach or make things too complicated. I highly recommend him if you are looking for surfing lessons in the area!

A great shop with tons of local flavor. Easy to use site to rent surf board and they were extremely accommodating when I returned my rental board before they opened up at 9am.
