Meet the HISS Crew
BARTON DECKER
Barton loved surfing ever since he first tried it in his early teens. Barton kept his love of the water and learned to windsurf in the 70’s and kiteboard in the 90’s. Learning at the infancy of both sports gave him a deep appreciation for the sport and how far it has evolved today. Day to day Barton manages the store and teaches windsurfing and kiteboarding lessons to the next generation of wind sport fanatics. Barton still gets on the water and kites and surfs whenever he can!

REIDER DECKER
Barton passed on his knowledge and taught Reider how to kiteboard and surf at a young age. Over the years Reider began to hone his skills towards to wave kiting and strapless freestyle. Reider is now an international rider for Airush Kiteboarding who works closely with them on certain products. When he is not working the shop or teaching lessons, he is in the water practicing strapless freestyle and wave riding every chance he gets. After years of riding for Airush Kiteboarding, Reider knows almost everything there is to know about the Airush product line. Check out some of his riding on the video below.

Micheal Davis
Micheal is from Maryland and started doing water sports, particularly wakeboarding at an early age. Going to college in Florida for videography he started riding cable, wakeskating and got his first feeling of kiteboarding there.
When Micheal first came to work at HISS, his only kite experience was from a friend who took him out briefly. Reider took him on a very short informal lesson and Micheal was riding back and forth staying upwind. One of the fastest students we have ever had.
That first year Micheal worked at HISS he went kiting every chance he had and he progressed insanely fast. His background in coaching middle school basketball, wakeboarding and cable equipped him to become a great coach in a short period of time.
Since then Micheal has taught for years at HISS and in Puerto Rico for a season. His level has progressed to almost all kite disciplines: Freeride, Freestyle, foiling, wave riding, and strapless freestyle.
When he is not coaching Micheal manages the Sail Shop along with Barton and Reider!
